what to expect

Over two days, Ana will guide you through a gentle, restorative yoga practice suitable for all ages, experience levels and body types. Dawn will gently walk you through the incredible (yet surprisingly simple!) process of creating a needle felted painting of a sweet spring Robin - where your needle is the brush and the wool is your paint. No prior experience is required and all materials are provided.

Spend time between sessions exploring the lushly forested resort grounds, going for a guided or solo paddle on beautiful Chub Lake or hiking a nearby trail. At night relax with new friends by the campfire or settle down and enjoy some alone time in your cozy lakeside cottage. A group dinner will be provided at a nearby establishment Saturday night, otherwise you will are welcome to create your own meals in your fully equipped cottage.

NOTE: Although we hope all participants will try their hand at each offering, there is the option of only participating in the yoga or felted art workshops.

host & instructor bios

Dawn Allard
Dawn is a self-taught artist, born in Sault Ste. Marie and raised in the rural outskirts. She and her family settled in Laird on a small hobby farm and with the addition of three sheep, her passion into the fibre world was born. Forgiving and versatile, fibre is endlessly inspiring to her. Drawn to colour and texture, Dawn incorporates her own flock’s fibres along with merinos, silks, locks and other local fibres into her works. Dawn is a firm believer that every form of fibre has its purpose. It’s the pleasure of knowing and playing with the materials that underpins her work in both needle and wet felting.

Ana Rawn
Ana has been a student of Yoga for a long time. She was drawn to the practice as an outlet to create wellbeing as the challenges of life as a business owner and mother of two young children. Ana is a Registered Yoga Teacher through Sault Hot Yoga, and the Canadian Yoga Alliance. Ana has been teaching since 2018 in Sault Ste. Marie and area. It was through her Yoga training that she discovered the power of essential oils and became certified aromatherapist. Ana has a passion for Yin Yoga, Hatha Yoga and Slow and Gentle Flow. You can find her classes in Echo Bay and Sault Ste. Marie.

Robin Sutherland
Robin is the Owner of Northern Skies Resort as well as a mother of two young ones, a non profit professional, a community artist, a social entrepreneur and an organizer. Robin was raised at Northern Skies Resort (formerly Kegos Camp) and she and her life partner purchased the family business from her parents in 2021. She is the fourth generation of her family to care for this beautiful property, which she and her partner envision building into a social enterprise focused on healing, wellness, and eco-tourism that supports local rural and Indigenous artists, communities and economies.
